Say No Carry Bag, Carry A Bag

Ban plastic bags to save Environment
In olden days people use to carry cloth bags or jute bags to the shop to purchase grocery or other things but when plastic is discovered it became part and parcel of our lives, what ever we do we use plastic in day to life, whether it is a plastic mug, plastic bucket or plastic containers we use in kitchen.

The biggest problem with the plastic bags which are used for packing of milk, oil, salt etc they become big environmental problem. When we go for shopping the shop owners give plastic bag which is handy but which is destroying the environment.

Plastic bags are light, sturdy and easy to carry. They are cheaper than paper. Plastics are reused in the home. We see so many beautiful and fashionable and colorful bags but how much these bags will harm environment many people do not aware.

The problem with plastic bags is
Plastic is not biodegradable
When buried plastic will choke the drainages
When burnt plastics will emit poisonous gases
To make plastic one has to use the petroleum products, plastic production and processing require the use of toxic chemicals. Many manufacturing plants that produce these chemicals also produce hazardous waste and pollute the air. Five of the top six were chemicals commonly used by the plastic industry [propylene, phenol, ethylene, polystyrene, and benzene].

Plastics which are substitute to traditional storage materials become problem to the environment. The shops should not give plastic bags free, the shops should charged to the customers to discourage customers in using plastic bags. There should be research to make the biodegradable plastics and technology should help to solve the environment problem

Plastic should be banned by law and the people were asked to carry the cloth bags while shopping whether it is for grocery or other shopping

As a citizen it is your individual social responsibility to carry cloth bags and do not accept to carry plastic bags while shopping.

All states should ban using of plastic bags
Use biodegradable plastics.
There should be scientific waste management system to recycle waste.
All state pollution control boards should be strengthened
The law should be strictly implemented by authorities.
There should be strict punishment for violators of the law

Reduce plastic - 5 Steps

Step 1
Keep a supply of re-usable cloth or paper bags in your car and workplace.

Bags don't take up a lot of space if folded and tucked neatly away in your trunk or extra file space.

If you ever find yourself running into the grocery store on your lunch break or after the gym, then you will always have a bag handy.
Step 2
Carry your own items!

If you are just buying toothpaste and some aspirin at the drugstore - do you really need a plastic bag?

Do your part and simply carry your own items if you are physically capable, you might even be able to count it as some type of strength training exercise.

Or if you often carry a backpack or large purse, instead of using a plastic bags, throw your items into your everyday bag and then take them out when you get home.
Step 3
Have you ever gone to the store and purchased a gift bag or other carrying bag, only to have the cashier put that gift bag into another bag? Why?

Get creative with your purchases, if you are buying a bag, purse, backpack - why not break it in early and use it to carry your other purchased items?

Same with a ice chests, luggage, or just having extra large pockets. You can reduce a lot of waste by just being aware of alternative ways of carrying stuff.
Step 4
If you are going shopping with your kids, husband, or others - recruit them to help you carry items!

Youngsters love lending a helping hand, ask them to carry a light item or two. This will instill a sense of accomplishment in your kids and also help to reduce plastic bag use.
Step 5
Make re-usable bags fashionable!

There are a lot of stores that offer their own bags for re-use, but why advertise a store when you can make your own re-usable bag?

This could become addicting. You might find yourself making re-usable cloth bags to match every season or holiday and even bags to match your outfits!

Re-usable bags are a great way to reduce your use of plastic bags and overall consumption of wasteful items. Not only that, it can be fun and fashionable at the same time!
